Is Coldfusion supported?
Do you offer or support reseller hosting?
No, Rhombic Networks does not allow reseller hosting.
Reseller hosting is a detriment to the web hosting industry. To keep our quality of service at the top of the pack, we do not allow reselling of Rhombic Networks accounts, which are designed for the individual person, small groups, or business.
How are network usage and quotas calculated and enforced?
More information forthcoming.
How are disk usage and quotas calculated and enforced?
Rhombic Networks does not use what is known as “hard quotas.” That is, your site is not immediately shut down if you go over the allowed disk utilization in your plan.
We check disk usage on accounts nightly. If you go over, we will contact you. Inadequate response or action on your part will result in enforcement as detailed in our terms of service.
This policy lets you use as much space as you want for a short period of time—perfect for quick operations that need a lot of disk space, like creating backups.
Everything in your server home directory is counted towards your disk usage, including your web pages, images, stored e-mail, other databases, and other files. Usage in MySQL databases (stored separately from your server home directory) also count toward your disk usage.
Do you support or offer Windows hosting and services, like ASP. .NET, Access...?
At the moment, we do not offer any kind of hosting on the Microsoft Windows platform, including:
- IIS
- ASP
- Microsoft SQL
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft .NET
We also do not offer Microsoft’s Frontpage extensions due to security concerns.
We provide almost all the service and features provided above through our Linux-powered servers. See our technology page.
Can I upload files through FTP?
No; we do not support FTP as it is extremely insecure. FTP sends login information (your login and password) in plaintext over the Internet for any hacker to steal. Because we value your data, our data, and our other clients’ data, we do not offer any sort of FTP access.
We recommend and support use of SFTP. With SFTP, both login information and your files are transferred encrypted, secure and safe from prying eyes.
Is there any software banned from use on Rhombic Networks' web servers?
Because of frequent security advisories and inefficient resource use, the following software packages are banned from being run on Rhombic Networks-managed web servers:
- phpBB: bulletin board software
- phpnuke/postnuke/derivatives: community and content management software
If you’ve need for any of these software packages, please contact support: we can recommend alternatives, and if need be, reevaluate whether they should continue being banned.
